FAQ: Chiropractic for back pain
< Back to list of FAQs.
Any sort of muscular pain is an indication that you are suffering
from an undiscovered ailment. Most people resort to the use of
painkillers and other sedatives to subdue the pain. However, such drugs
might cause several side effects instead of treating the problem.
Is it normal to have some back pain?
No.
Pain of any kind, at any age, whether major or minor is a signal that
something is wrong. Your body experiences pain when it has reached a
limit or if there’s some problem.
As our body tends to adapt,
most pains go unnoticed or neglected. While the pains might subside in
a while, the root problem remains unattended. Over a period, the
problem gets worse and more difficult and expensive to treat.
What about muscle relaxants?
Chiropractors
do not dispense drugs. We use natural ways to get rid of aches and
pains by focussing on the root underlying cause.
If you apply
ice in the right way, it can provide the same analgesic effects without
the side effects of drugs. Long term use of pain killers are not
recommended medically.
How does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic
works by using the body’s natural mechanism of self-healing. Our
nervous system is capable of solving most problems by itself if it
functions properly.
Your brain communicates with your organs and
different parts of the body by sending signals through the nervous
system that runs through the spinal cord.
Your body works properly if there is a proper flow of signals to and from the brain.
If
there were a problem with the positioning of the spinal bones, the
brain would not be able to communicate properly with the organs and
other parts of your body.
A chiropractor can provide specific
spinal adjustments to improve the communication between your brain and
your body. This is possible with a healthy nervous system.
Is chiropractic covered by insurance?
Most insurance policies these days cover at least a part of the chiropractic care you might need.
Although
it is convenient to have an insurance company pay for your costs, you
must not allow the costs to be deciding factor when it comes to your
health. If you really want to get your health back, the Sameday Chiropractic Clinic can help you. Get in touch with us to find out how we bring chiropractic care within everyone’s reach.
Following are some common causes of back pain related problems:
Lumbar Muscle Strain
Lumbar
muscle strain is the most common cause of back pain. The strain may be
caused due to any physical event that triggers a muscle spam. Usually,
this particular problem takes more than two weeks to heal completely.
Similarly,
back pain may arise due to the nerve-rich facet joints that are located
on the back side of each spinal bone. This pain is an indication that
these interlocking fingers are moving incorrectly. Back pain might also
arise due to the discs between the spinal bones. Any sort of physical
trauma can compel the pulpy material located in middle to bulge,
resulting in pressure on nearby nerves.
Chiropractic treatment - Effective for back pain relief or back aches?
According
to a 2006 study in the UK, Chiropractic treatment is very effective for
back pain. A proven fact is that certain chiropractic adjustments can
correct the position of the spine as well. The treatment works by
easing the nerves and reducing the pain. Professional chiropractors
correct subluxation through adjustments of the vertebrae. The process
also involves certain manual adjustments in which the chiropractor
applies pressure with hands to the spine. Chiropractors often work
along with massage therapists to treat back pain.
