Chiropractic treatment for neck whiplash
Whiplash injuries and whiplash-associated disorders (WAD) are some
of the most common types of injuries related to the neck. These are
caused to due to a sudden or abrupt movement of the neck like in the
case of a car accident or a fall.
Most whiplash injuries occur
in a vehicle when it is hit from the rear. Falls from horses or
bicycles can also lead to such injuries. The sudden violent movements
might stretch the spine or tear a ligament.
Whiplash injuries
do not usually show up immediately. Most people experience pain even
weeks after the accident. Symptoms include pain and ache in the neck
and back and shoulder area.
Chiropractic therapy for whisplash caused by neck injuries
Experts at the Sameday Chiropractic
Clinic can help you find out the best course of action. Drugs and
over-the-counter painkillers cannot heal inflamed ligaments and
tendons. Muscle relaxants too cannot heal torn muscles.
An
experienced chiropractor with the help of specific spinal adjustments
can restore the position and motion of your spinal bones and ensure
proper healing by chiropractic therapy.
The more you delay in starting the treatment,
the longer it will take you to recover. Drugs might help ease the pain
temporarily but they cannot provide a permanent solution.
Why do my hands and arms ache?
All
the nerves to your hands and arms run through your spine and neck. It
is common to experience slight numbness and tingling. Some patients
even experience lower back pain due to the trauma.
Why am I getting headaches a week after the accident?
Your
body continuously adapts to the changing environment. So whether you
are stressed at work, upset emotionally or have met with an accident,
your body tries to adapt to the changed conditions. Symptoms start to
appear when the body is exhausted. This is why symptoms can appear even
after years.
How can a small collision cause so many problems to the spine?
We
cannot really get into the details and explain the laws of physics, but
here’s a simple explanation. In a major car accident, most of the
energy of the collision is absorbed by the car. In smaller accidents
like car park, the energy is mostly directed to the driver and
passengers.
Can a whiplash injury be prevented?
Most
whiplash and neck whiplash injuries occur due to car accidents. Defensive driving can
minimise the chances of an accident. Ensure that your turn signals and
taillights are working properly. Keep safe distance from the vehicles
in front of you. Always check the rear view mirror before slowing down
to see if the vehicle behind you is too close.
